Concept and Creation of Magazine “Magazin fuer Zwischenfragen” for Zeppelin University
Dear colleagues, associates, friends,
I just wanted to keep you updated on some of the things we have been working on.
Recently the Zeppelin University released the third issue of the magazine “auf – Magazin fuer Zwischenfragen” – a bi-annual publication combining scientific texts and findings with artistic and aesthetic interventions.
Zeppelin University asked me some time ago to help to start a publication geared towards the scientific community and an affiliated broader audience.
So I created an artistic concept and editorial profile that includes persistent editorial elements (such as a set of interposed questions) as well as visual/aesthetic interventions for each issue by an artist. These are not intended to illustrate or ornament the publication but rather create a critically independent layer within it – associating and commenting on the topics discussed and presented.

For the initial three issues I created the artistic elements as well as served as the Creative Director and will continue to be part of the project as an Artistic Consultant while the magazine continues to develop along the lines of the concept.
For the latest issue which is available here http://www.zu.de/auf-magazin/ I acted as a quasi-Luddite intervening into the printing process by literally opening the machine to make manual adjustments to it. This changed the printing process in a way that created unique copies of the magazine.

P.S. Of course we have been working on a lot more:
E.g. helping to create a syllabus to train teachers how to employ aesthetics-based learning styles for students in the G/T program.
Conducting a seminar and exploration (like every term but each time with a different angle) for MBA students (fourth and fifth semester at different universities) on aesthetic research and intervention art.
And so on … I’ll keep you posted … and if you happen to work in a similar field or adjacent type of project, of course I’d be interested to hear about it.
